Even though Season 2 has just ended, for season 3 we intend to strike while the iron is hot. The community ladder admins will hopefully give you a ladder unlike any other we have hosted before.

But as always, we wish for the community to play an active part in the decision making process in Season 3. This time around we are giving everyone the chance to decide which game mode we will all be playing in the next ladder.

The choice however isnt a simple one - and the admins would appreciate it if you could read the full post on the forums via the link above.

Also, one other note to make:
This poll will decide more than just the game mode to be played. We feel strongly about the potential of the Aus BF:BC2 Community. However if we do not receive enough votes in the poll from the community, we will not be running the ladders at this time.

HC SQDM Ladder - Round 1 News

The 2nd Season of The Battlefield Bad Company 2 Community SQDM Ladder got under way this weekend, and in the vast majority of cases it was an excellent start.

The veterans from last year knew what to expect and did their best to overcome the competition. And the new clans this season performed equally strongly, in fact of the 4 winning clans in the first round - 2 of them came from new clans to our ladder - so congratulations to them.

As always, a few teething problems arose, with a couple of the clans not knowing when matches were scheduled (we unfortunately had one clan miss their match entirely and therefore receive no points this round). We even had one instance of a clan not realising their captain had enrolled them in the ladder!

But these things always come about when a new ladder starts off, and are hard to avoid. The trick is to overcome them by the next round, and have all the clan captains and members fully aware of when matches start, and who they are playing.
As such, I'll remind everyone right now that each week the ladder admins update the forums allowing all the clans to know where and when they are playing. The link can be found here:

Check back onto the forums after each round and by Monday or Tuesday of each week, the information will be updated. Passwords and server names will be PM'd to Clan Captains only - it is the captains responsibility to then pass that information onto each member of his clan that will be playing in the scrim.

And as for the SQDM Round 1 matches themselves - excellent game play on a map thats a bit of an old favourite: "White Pass". Fairly close matches in many cases, but eventually JKS, AES, 50+ and GSO all came out victorious in their matches.
The exact ladder rankings after round 1 can be viewed here at any time. Also please note, the OGA clan has officially changed its name and will be now known on the ladder and the community forums as GSO.

So now, looking forward to round 2 of the ladder - we will be playing on Oasis from the new map packs, but for a full listing of which maps we will be playing on throughout the ladder - go here: Map Scheduling .

This is it! We are very excited to announce the first details on Battlefield 3 and to kickstart the preorders for the Limited Edition!

There comes a time when we as a studio have to choose where to best put our efforts. At DICE we’re dedicated to taking care of our products after launch, and also hell bent on building new, innovative and high quality games.

In my day to day work, I look at our release schedule and the studio’s capacity, weighing them against our wild ambitions to create awesomeness. I often need to make hard calls regarding where we put the studio’s focus. Part of the challenge is to balance work on the new against the already shipped, prioritizing the amount of energy spent on the known franchises and the time spent on developing something entirely new.

This is one of those cross roads where I need to make a hard decision. While we’ll continue supporting Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and previous games, it’s time to look ahead to the next giant leap for DICE – the release of Battlefield 3, powered by the mighty Frostbite 2 engine. Our goal is crystal clear: we’re going to build the best Battlefield game ever, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make this the biggest launch in DICE’s history.

We know some of you eagerly have been awaiting Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught on PC. I’m sad to say that these two titles are now officially cancelled. Instead, our talented teams will focus on delivering the greatest possible gaming experience in our next behemoth release. We’re confident this will lead to an even better experience in Battlefield 3, not only on PC, but on all platforms.

SQDM Ladder: Season 2 is Here!

After a successful completion of Season One of the Australian BF:BC2 Community Squad Death Match Ladder, the long awaited Season Two is finally ready to launch!

Season 2 will begin this Saturday the 22nd of January when we will start accepting clan sign ups for a period of 2 weeks, before we officially get under way with Round 1 on the 12th of February.

Taking in members feedback from the clans that competed in Season One, and combining that with improvements and ideas passed on from the ladder admin group, we have created a new Season of the SQDM ladder which will once again see 16 clans competing for the top spot in the country.

There have been significant changes made to the scoring system to overcome last years deficiencies. As well as a full updating of the map rotation to include both the latest BC2 map pack, and the BC2 game expansion "BC2: Vietnam".

The ladder will still be a faced paced tournament though, consisting of 6 rounds each played out over the course of a weekend in the same manner as Season One.

Once you have made sure you agree with all of the rules and scheduling, then take the opportunity to sign your clan up to take part in the only Hardcore tournament in Australia!
